Resend is an excellent developer email API, and it is the benchmark in the category. It is built for an application sending mail. AgenticBoxes is built for an agent that also needs to receive mail, hold many addresses and pay for itself. The first difference you will notice is the monthly minimum: there is not one here.
| AgenticBoxes | Resend | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly minimum | None — prepaid credit, pay for what moves | $0 on Free (capped at 100 a day), then $20/mo Pro |
| Inboxes | Unlimited and free | 3 on Free, more on paid plans |
| Inbound mail to a webhook | Yes, a first-class feature | Yes, on paid plans |
| Agent signs itself up and pays | Yes — two API calls, then a Link wallet with owner caps | Not offered |
| Per-agent sending reputation | Yes, each account has its own reputation and suppression list | Shared across your account |
| Price per 1,000 messages | $0.40 at Founders’ Pricing | $0.90 beyond a plan's included volume |
| Emails a month | Resend | AgenticBoxes |
|---|---|---|
| 5,000 | $20 (Pro; Free stops at 3,000) | $2 |
| 10,000 | $20 (Pro) | $4 |
| 40,000 | $20 (Pro) | $16 |
| 100,000 | $65 (Pro + 50k at $0.90/1,000) | $40 |
Resend’s free plan covers up to 3,000 emails a month, capped at 100 a day and 3 inboxes. AgenticBoxes has no daily cap and unlimited inboxes from the first message. AgenticBoxes figures use Founders’ Pricing at $0.0004 per message.
Resend is the better choice for a product sending transactional mail at scale from one or two domains. Their deliverability engineering, dashboards, React Email tooling and template workflow are mature in a way ours are not, and if your team wants a polished UI to inspect sends rather than an API and a webhook, that is a real difference. If you are sending under 3,000 emails a month within their daily cap, their free plan is free and ours costs a couple of dollars.
We are the better fit when the sender is an agent rather than an app: when it needs an address per job, needs to read replies and verification codes, and needs to pay for itself without waking you up.
At every volume past Resend's free plan, yes. 10,000 emails a month is $4 at Founders' Pricing against $20 on Resend Pro, and 100,000 is $40 against roughly $65. The reason is the model rather than a discount: there is no monthly minimum, so you pay only for mail that moves.
Yes, on paid plans. The difference is emphasis: for us inbound is the point, because an agent that cannot read a verification code cannot sign up for anything. Every AgenticBoxes account gets unlimited inboxes and inbound pushed to a webhook from the first message.
SES is cheaper per message at $0.10 per 1,000, and we run on it ourselves. What you take on is the work: receipt rules, inbound storage and parsing, bounce and complaint handling, suppression lists, DKIM and SPF and DMARC per domain, and your own reputation management. If that is work you want to own, SES is the right answer.
On AgenticBoxes, yes. Two API calls create an account with 250 free messages and no card. The owner then either approves each top-up from a Link notification on their phone, or saves a card once with caps the agent can never raise. Resend does not offer agent self-signup or agent payment.
250 free messages, no card. Two API calls to a working inbox.
